ft13_speakers_ryanRYAN D. BUELL – DIRECTOR OF PRS

Ryan Buell founded the Paranormal Research Society the first month he arrived on Penn State campus in September 2001. Buell always knew he was interested in the paranormal ever since he could read. He regularly checked out books from the library ranging from poltergeists to the Bermuda Triangle. A native of Sumter, South Carolina, Buell began investigating at the age of 15. His first investigation was on the Salem-Black River Church just outside of his hometown.

Buell was offered a series (”Paranormal State”) in 2006 that would document his and PRS’ investigations in to the unknown.  Five seasons and 84 episodes later, “Paranormal State” is an international hit.  Buell served as co-executive producer for season five, and later announced it would be his last season on the show.  Buell serves as co-creator and co-executive producer of “The Ghost Prophecies,” as well as co-executive producer for the upcoming film, “American Ghost Hunter.”
During Field Trip 13, Buell will attend panel discussions, hold a workshop, take attendees on ghost hunts and more!  As leader of PRS, he extends his experience to field trippers and enjoys answering questions about the paranormal.

ft13_speakers_sergeySERGEY POBEREZHNY – TECH MANAGER & PHOTOGRAPHER

Sergey Poberezhny, as you can see, has a very long last name. That must mean one thing: he is foreign. For those of you who guessed that, give yourself a star. Sergey was born in Sevastopol, Ukraine. A place so small and unknown that he would just tell people he was born in Moscow to make things easier. He left Ukraine when he was 4 years old to travel across Europe. His parents joined him on his adventure. A wrong bus ride in Switzerland caught him by surprise because in 1989 he arrived in New York City.

Sergey didn’t know it at the time, but it seemed as if fate was bringing him closer and closer to PRS. He did not start off at the University Park, but instead he chose another campus: Penn State Erie, a campus that was smaller and further away. Spending his time with a variety of activities – hiking, volunteering at a historical society, crashing frat parties, he never imagined getting interested in the paranormal. After several nights of watching shows about the subject, he took it upon himself to find out if the paranormal existed. Getting into his ‘94 Sentra at midnight, he ended up driving around Erie, looking for ghosts and taking photos. While he did get some amazing photos, he did not get any ghosts.

He put the paranormal behind him until he arrived in University Park. Transferring from another campus meant he had to start fresh in finding friends. After looking through the organizations the main campus had to offer, he joined the Paranormal Research Society.

Sergey continues to research in PRS, as well as expand his interest in photography.  Now a professional photographer, Poberezhny’s first photo book will be unveiled at Field Trip 13.  Poberezhny will hold a workshop as well as demonstrations on the Ganzfeld Experiment, participate in ghost hunts and more!  He also loves taking people’s pictures.

ft13_speakers_elfEILFIE MUSIC – OCCULT SPECIALIST & ARTIST

Eilfie Music is the co-director of the Spiritual and Occult Research (SOR) branch for the Paranormal Research Society. Her curiosity for the paranormal and the occult started at an early age with access to her Father, Dr. James Music collection of books. Though he only had a passing interest in the paranormal, Eilfie became fascinated with the idea of seeking out hauntings and documenting them in a scientific method.

After graduating high school, Eilfie continued on with her education in the paranormal and occult by taking full advantage of the local campus library when not working. Through involvement with the campus pagan group Silver Circle, Eilfie found out about a new group on campus starting up known as the Paranormal Research Society or PRS for short. Since attending that first meeting, she has been with them ever since.

When Eilfie is not working on PRS or on Paranormal State, she is working on her other passion, which is art. Along with instilling an interest in the occult, her father also supported her love for creating things through paintings, sculptures, and the modification of clothes. Her art is becoming more known each year through commissions and the help of PRS. Eilfie is also working with co-author Mathew Swayne on a nonfiction book of the paranormal.
