PRS and AGH are pleased to team up once again for a joint field trip experience, “Field Trip 9: Return to Darkness Falls,” which will take place August 8-10th, 2010 at West Virginia State Penitentiary.
The penitentiary, which once housed some of the most dangerous criminals and murders in the country, will be the setting of a 2 1/2 day paranormal event, where fans and enthusiasts will get together to attend a variety of workshops, lectures, socials and, of course, to experience the prison’s dark side. The penitentiary also served as the location for one of the most talked about investigations/episodes of “Paranormal State.” We’re talking, of course, about the 1-hour episode “Darkness Falls,” which featured the PRS crew investigating the infamous penitentiary, where six months prior PRS Director Ryan Buell claimed he had an experience there that shook him.
Attendees will get a tour of the prison, attend new workshops/lectures, and of course, get to investigate the prison in a whole new way.
“We’re going to allow some attendees to go through what we did during our investigations during ‘Darkness Falls,’” says Buell. “In other words, some will get to sit up in the psych ward alone in a room for a bit to see if they can stand the isolation.” A full tech headquarters will be set up so people can watch real-time investigations.
“In the past, we would just do an investigation for fun,” said Buell. “But this time, we want everyone to help collaborate with us to conduct a 2-3 day investigation to help add to our file.”
This will be the third PRS/AGH team up for a field trip. Both Buell and AGH leader Chad Calek agree that this is going to be the biggest experience of the year.
On top of that, Buell hopes to unveil an extended edition of the “Darkness Falls” episode, as well as hopefully offer fans a sneak peek of Season Five. “A&E has always been great and supportive of exciting the core fan base. I think we’ll be able to do something really special there.”

We LOVE this place!! So much so, that we’re hosting our 2nd Haunted Bus Trip from Canada there this September (just a month after your trip there!) for an overnight investigation. Such a creepy place and I can’t wait to go back.

I have been to the Pen a number of times w/ Heartland Haunted History group. w/ Sherri Brake – I work the tours there w/ her. I love the staff there – especially Lori. I have numerous experiences there. It is an awesome place and a priivledge to be able to investigate the prison. I would love to attend the seminar/field trip. What is the cost?

I am originally from West Virginia and have visited the penitentiary once a long time ago. A lot has gone on in WV and this sounds exciting! The Mothman Legend, the Silver Bridge, the WV State Penitentiary are still full of energy.

I sent an email to the webhost to try to get this fixed. It says that they are on sale now – but nothing happens when you click to purchase it has the Conneaut Hotel on there (this has been sold out and over for almost a month) I sure hope they get this fixed soon = I don’t want to miss out on getting tickets due to the difficulties that they are having.
I’ve been to the Pen several times before and have had a lot of experiences there – it is one of my favorite places to hunt!! I want to have the pleasure of working along side the PRS crew.

We booked a hotel 20 minutes away in Wheeling. I haven’t seen any info on the site about the deteils yet but I did notice they mentioned tents….are we suppose to bring a tent? Does anyone have more details about this trip?
